## Description

The Kathleen Area Historical Society is a Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit and community-based educational resource dedicated to bringing local history to life. It welcomes people with an interest in the historic communities and traditions of Galloway, Gibsonia, Green Pond, Griffin, Kathleen, Providence, Socrum, and Winston, whose roots date from 1850 to 1900. The Society connects residents and visitors with the area’s past through community activities, events, and outreach programs, including presentations, songs and stories, and gatherings focused on local history. Its calendar also features Heritage Day, a monthly spaghetti supper fundraiser, cane grinding and syrup making, and the Heritage Harvest Market. Visitors can explore Heritage Park in the Socrum area of Lakeland, view historical markers, and inquire about park rentals. The organization also offers membership options and accepts donations to support its work. Based in Kathleen, the Society serves as a place to learn about and celebrate the people, heritage, and shared history of the surrounding communities.
