## Description

Krewe Du Kanaval is a vibrant and engaging brand that celebrates the cultural and historical ties between Haiti and New Orleans, as well as the Caribbean and beyond. With the motto Tout moun se moun (meaning Everyone is someone in Haitian Creole), Krewe Du Kanaval welcomes everyone to join in honoring and paying respect to those who have come before, while sharing the joy of the unified spirit of Kanaval. As an homage to the powerful and influential women in history, Krewe Du Kanaval's official 2023 theme is Warrior Women of Ayiti and Nouvelle-Orléans. This tribute includes figures such as the indigenous Queen of the Tainos, Anacaona, and African elite warrior Adbaraya Toya, who later became the guardian of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, a hero of the Haitian Revolution. The brand also recognizes the contributions of Marie Laveau, a vaudou Queen and healer, as well as other notable women like Ruby Bridges, Oretha Castle Haley, Mahalia Jackson, Leah Chase, and Irma Thomas. Krewe Du Kanaval encourages its members to bring a vibrant feminine spirit to Kanaval as they celebrate these amazing women and many more. Furthermore, as a community-based Krewe, Krewe Du Kanaval strives to support organizations that are making a difference in Haiti and New Orleans. Join the celebration and be a part of this inspiring brand that celebrates unity, heritage, and the spirit of Kanaval.
