## Description

The Chapter of Saint Servatius is a Maastricht heritage organization dedicated to preserving, researching and sharing the legacy of one of the city’s most influential religious institutions. Historically connected to the Basilica of Saint Servatius, the chapter was a college of secular clergy that existed from the early Middle Ages until its dissolution in 1797. Re-established on 12 October 2023, it aims to keep this history relevant through education, research and cultural engagement.

The organization presents its heritage through several areas: the Proost’s Residence, a listed historic building with Rococo features; a searchable collection of charters and documents spanning 800–1795; research into the chapter’s extensive landholdings; and materials about pilgrimage to Maastricht. Visitors can explore historical accounts, maps and the chapter’s heraldry, while downloadable publications, including the multilingual e-book “Maastricht, City for the Pilgrim,” make its work accessible to a wider audience. The chapter also seeks to foster cultural, educational and spiritual activities in collaboration with partners around the basilica, connecting Maastricht’s past with its present and future.
