## Description

The International Karlspreis (Charlemagne Prize) is a prestigious award established in 1950, dedicated to honoring individuals or institutions that have significantly contributed to the idea of European unity. Named after Charlemagne, the first unifier of Europe, the award connects the continent’s rich historical legacy with its future aspirations. The prize is awarded annually in Aachen, Germany, symbolizing a commitment to freedom, humanity, and peace. In addition to the main prize, the Karlspreis also includes the Charlemagne Youth Prize, aimed at projects led by young people aged 16 to 30 that promote European understanding and cooperation. Throughout the year, the foundation hosts various events and forums that engage the community in discussions about European integration and current challenges facing the continent. The Karlspreis serves as a vital platform for promoting dialogue and recognizing efforts that advance a united Europe, reflecting the foundation’s vision of nurturing a strong, collaborative European identity for future generations.
