## Description

KartaView is a free, open platform for collecting and sharing street-level imagery from around the world. Powered by community contributions, it makes imagery publicly available to help improve OpenStreetMap and support the mapping of roads and places. People can record with the KartaView app on iOS or Android, or use GPS-enabled cameras, including supported GoPro models. A command-line tool is also available for uploading camera photos.

KartaView uses computer vision to identify road features such as signs, lanes, and road curvature, and to blur faces and license plates before images are shared. Contributors can browse imagery, use photos and automatic detections to edit OpenStreetMap, and work with iD and JOSM plugins. The platform also supports automatic syncing with Mapillary accounts, so imagery uploaded to KartaView can be available on both platforms. KartaView provides practical recording guidance and asks contributors to submit clear, high-quality footage in suitable conditions. Its imagery is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license, making the service a collaborative resource for mapping and exploration.
