## Description

The South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) is a premier facility under the National Research Foundation, dedicated to advancing radio astronomy initiatives in South Africa. Home to state-of-the-art projects like the MeerKAT Radio Telescope located in the Karoo, SARAO plays a pivotal role in astronomical discoveries. The observatory is not only involved in groundbreaking research, evident from over 412 publications based on MeerKAT data, but also offers various services such as e-learning platforms to enhance academic engagement across Africa.

SARAO facilitates citizen science projects, enabling public participation in scientific research, and collaborates on significant international endeavors, including the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), set to be the world's largest radio telescope. With a commitment to education, outreach, and technological advancement, SARAO provides scholarships and training opportunities for aspiring astronomers. By fostering a vibrant community of scientists, students, and the general public, SARAO continues to make strides in understanding the universe and enhancing South Africa’s role in global astronomical research.
