## Description

Katey’s Kits is a community initiative in Eastern North Carolina working to address period poverty, which it describes as a lack of access to menstrual products, sanitation facilities, and adequate education. Founded in 2021 after its creator learned about the issue nationally and locally, the project focuses on helping young women, particularly students in the founder’s community, access the supplies they need and participate in school and extracurricular activities without worrying about where their next period products will come from.

Its main offering is a discreet kit containing approximately 95 to 100 sanitary pads and/or tampons in varying absorbencies, intended to provide supplies for about three months. Kits are packaged for convenient, safe storage and transport. Katey’s Kits reports distributing kits each year from 2021 through 2025, reaching 200 distributions in 2025.

The initiative invites community members to support its work by donating unopened maxi or sanitary pads, contributing money through PayPal to purchase supplies, or volunteering to package and distribute kits.
