Kaya ChildCare is an organization dedicated to providing quality early childhood education to the children of Kayayei in Accra. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves a strong foundation for education. We work closely with the Kayayoo mothers, who live in urban poverty on less than $1 a day, to support their efforts in raising their children. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing space for the children, away from the busy market where their mothers work, allowing the mothers to focus on growing their businesses. We offer a customized blended curriculum that incorporates learning-through-play, as we believe that children learn best when they play. Our approach ensures a smooth transition to learning by using familiar content and tools, connecting to the approved early years curriculum. We also take care of the children's nutrition and health, providing a full lunch meal and snacks each day, and working with the mothers to address any health or developmental gaps. At Kaya ChildCare, we are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by ensuring that every child has equal access to education and a productive life in adulthood.
