About
Description
The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage (KCAAH) is a brand dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history, heritage, and cultural contributions of African Americans in Kentucky and beyond. It is the result of a collaboration among African American educators, artists, and historians who recognized the need to give voice and platform to the long-dormant history of African Americans in their region. KCAAH's mission is to enhance public knowledge about African American history and culture through educational programs, arts and culture exhibitions, and community-focused events.
The center provides a vital space for performances, exhibitions, and lectures, where African American spoken word, visual, and performing artists can collaborate and showcase their talent. With a focus on arts, culture, and education, KCAAH offers interactive exhibits, art installations, and workshops for both children and adults. The center also serves as a venue for community celebrations and personal events, with a variety of rental venues available.
Led by an experienced leadership team, KCAAH aims to revitalize the Russell neighborhood in Louisville and promote African American culture throughout Kentucky. Through their various initiatives and programs, KCAAH strives to create a place of cultural significance and share the monumental achievements of African Americans with the community
