## Description

The Coordination Office for the Preservation of Written Cultural Heritage (KEK) is a vital organization dedicated to safeguarding Germany's written cultural legacy. Established in August 2011 and located at the State Library of Berlin, KEK operates as the sole interdisciplinary body focused on preserving original written materials, including books, documents, and records, which are increasingly vulnerable to deterioration.

Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, KEK facilitates preservation projects through various funding programs, such as the BKM Special Programme and KEK Pilot Project Funding, aimed at enhancing technical skills and innovative approaches among institutions. Beyond financial support, KEK emphasizes the importance of information dissemination, offering detailed insights on ongoing projects through their website, publications, and community engagement initiatives under the handle @originalerhalt.

By fostering collaboration across diverse institutions and creating forums for dialogue, KEK ensures a unified effort towards the long-term preservation of Germany's written cultural heritage, reinforcing its commitment to cultural memory and accessibility.
