## Description

Ken Gaku Kan Cergy is a Kendo club that has taught the Japanese art of swordsmanship since 1975. Based in Cergy, France, the club welcomes beginners and experienced practitioners to train in a traditional martial art rooted in Japanese culture. Kendo uses bamboo swords, called shinai, and wooden swords, or bokken, through structured exercises and sparring. Its practice develops coordination, confidence, awareness of the body, respect for others and perseverance.

The club emphasizes shared learning, mutual support and dojo etiquette, while bringing members together through regular events and outings. Training takes place on Monday evenings and Wednesday evenings at the Gymnase de l’Axe Majeur in Cergy. Newcomers can attend three free trial sessions, with basic equipment supplied for as long as needed; comfortable sportswear is sufficient to begin. Ken Gaku Kan offers annual memberships for young people aged 10–17 and adults, plus a household discount for members registering together. Instruction is led by sensei Mohammed Abla, a 7th Dan Renshi and direct disciple of the Okada lineage.
