## Description

Kerry Travellers Health and Community Development Project (KTHCDP) is a professional, Traveller-led organisation established in 1996 to advance the rights, identity and wellbeing of Travellers throughout County Kerry. The project works to celebrate Traveller ethnicity, culture, history and language while challenging racism, discrimination and inequality. It connects community members with policy makers and services, combining advocacy with locally led engagement.

KTHCDP’s programmes span community health, education, family support, community development, equality, peer education, accommodation, culture and employment. The organisation supports Travellers to identify shared needs, build confidence and capacity, and take an active role in shaping solutions and decisions that affect their lives. It also works with partner and statutory agencies to encourage culturally aware services and improve access to support.

Guided by community development principles, KTHCDP promotes collective participation and human rights. Its strategic priorities include strengthening Traveller representation, advocating for families experiencing severe disadvantage or discrimination, gathering evidence to influence policy, and developing pathways to employment through social enterprise and sole-trader opportunities.
