Founded in 1975, it serves people with hearing loss and their families across Kerava, Järvenpää, Tuusula, Nurmijärvi and Sipoo. The association has more than 900 members and is run by volunteers who support others facing similar challenges. Its services help members manage everyday life with hearing loss. These include guidance on using and maintaining hearing aids, information about assistive devices and rehabilitation, and updates on relevant events. Members can also receive the association’s magazine four times a year and Kuuloviesti, published by the Finnish Federation of the Hard of Hearing, five times a year. The association sells batteries at reduced prices and arranges excursions and social activities. Its program includes tinnitus peer-support groups in Kerava and Järvenpää, seasonal gatherings, meetings and opportunities for exercise.
