KFAS

KFAS, or the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, is a private non-profit organization dedicated to harnessing science, technology, and innovation to promote modernization, a better quality of life, and a sustainable future for the Kuwaiti people. Established in 1976 with the support of the private sector and a decree from the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, KFAS focuses on advancing and integrating science, technology, and innovation (STI) throughout the country. Over the years, KFAS has made tremendous strides in promoting STI and cultivating a culture of research and development in Kuwaiti society.

They have invested in building a skilled STI workforce, particularly by educating and empowering the youth. KFAS disseminates knowledge through scientific publications, books, and community-based events, while also collaborating with local and international institutions to drive innovative solutions in areas of national priority. KFAS also prioritizes the development of the private sector by investing in human capital and advocating for increased private-sector investment in STI.

Through collaborations with renowned academic and research institutions, KFAS provides the local community with access to partnerships focused on enhancing the national science and technology ecosystem. Additionally, KFAS has established specialized centers of excellence, such as the Scientific Center, Dasman Diabetes Center, Sabah Al Ahmed Center, and ASPD, which receive funding as subsidiaries of the foundation. These centers contribute to addressing national challenges through research and development.
