Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is an award-winning environmental and community nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people and nature thrive. As an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., KIB is committed to preserving the natural beauty and environment in American communities. KIB believes in shared responsibility and sustainability, starting with love for our city. Engaging and empowering citizens of all ages and backgrounds, KIB offers various programs and services to make a lasting positive impact. These include tree planting, block-by-block cleanups, habitat restoration, and community forestry initiatives. KIB also offers work-readiness programs for young adults and high schoolers, focused on maintaining green infrastructure and caring for community trees. With the support of nearly 20,000 volunteers, KIB completes over 800 community projects each year. Their strategic plan, spanning from 2021 to 2024, focuses on improving environmental equity in Indianapolis by providing equitable access to environmental benefits. By partnering with the community and receiving support from donors, corporate and civic partners, and the City of Indianapolis, KIB has been able to achieve its mission of creating vibrant public places for the community and preserving nature. They have received numerous local, national, and international awards for their programs and initiatives.
