# Kids at Tennis - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `kidsattennis.ca` ## Description Society for Kids at Tennis (KATS) is a community-focused organization that uses tennis to support the physical, emotional and social well-being of children and youth facing significant challenges. Its programs serve young people from families experiencing chronic low income, as well as participants with cognitive or physical developmental disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and wheelchair disabilities. KATS provides tennis lessons free of charge and supplies all required equipment. Classes encourage physical activity while helping participants learn, connect with peers and build relationships with mentoring adults. Since its founding in October 2013, the organization has worked with community centres, low-income schools and social agencies, and more than 23,000 children and youth have taken part in its classes. KATS has received recognition from Sports BC, Tennis British Columbia and Tennis Canada for its work and community contribution.
