Description
Kids In Danger (KID) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to protecting children by advocating for product safety. The organization was established in 1998 by the parents of Danny Keysar, a sixteen-month-old child who tragically lost his life when a portable crib collapsed around his neck in his Chicago childcare home. Despite the fact that the portable crib had been recalled five years earlier, his parents, caregiver, and a state inspector were unaware of its danger.
KID aims to prevent such incidents by promoting transparency, accountability, and safer product development. They raise awareness among caregivers about safety and recall information, monitor regulatory agencies and manufacturers, and collaborate with designers and engineers to prioritize safety in product design. KID has achieved significant milestones since its inception, including the passing of Danny's Law, which implemented strong standards for infant and toddler nursery products, banned harmful substances, and mandated independent testing for children's products.
