- **Primary alias:** `kilocode.ai`

## Description

Kilo is an open-source AI coding agent designed to support developers across their workflows. Available for VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, the command line, and cloud environments, it brings coding, planning, debugging, and review tools into one flexible platform. Kilo supports access to more than 500 AI models, including frontier, open-weight, and free options. Developers can use their own API keys with no inference markup or choose local models, and the company highlights code privacy and transparency as core principles.

The agent offers specialized modes for writing and refactoring code, planning complex features, and diagnosing bugs. Its cloud agents and code review tools help users move between local and remote work, while shared sessions and isolated worktrees support parallel tasks. Kilo also provides model routing options aimed at balancing capability and cost. The software is open source under the MIT license, allowing users to inspect, modify, fork, or self-host it. Kilo reports more than five million users and says it has processed over ten trillion tokens monthly.
