## Description

High School! Kimengumi is a Japanese comedy anime franchise based on the manga by Motoei Shinzawa. The story began in 1980 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump as Sannen Kimengumi, then adopted its familiar title as the characters advanced to high school. Its original television adaptation aired from 1985 and became a popular hit. A new animated series brings the franchise to contemporary audiences, presenting its energetic, high-tension humor for the Reiwa era. The story centers on five members of the Kimengumi, who treat their unusual looks as a source of individuality and turn that difference into a positive force. They are joined by other distinctive groups, including the Handsome Guys, the Ban-gumi, the Arms-gumi, and the Girls’ group. The new series is directed by Kazuaki Seki, whose work spans film and music videos. It began broadcasting in January 2026 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block, with episodes scheduled Fridays at 11:30 p.m. The official site also features news, character information, music, videos, and Blu-ray updates.
