## Description

Kindred is a community-led platform connecting families and older adults across the North West with trusted local companions. Its focus is friendship rather than clinical or personal care: companions spend time talking, sharing interests, enjoying a cup of tea, or going out together. Families can browse local profiles and filter by location, interests, age and gender, then message companions for free to find a good fit. All companions undergo identity verification; those with a Plus badge have also completed a digitally verified DBS check. Kindred’s platform supports secure conversations, introductory calls, meetups and bookings for single or recurring visits, with secure payment and visit diaries that share updates and, where available, photos after each visit. Companions may offer their time on paid or voluntary terms, with flexible opportunities. Inspired by the founder’s grandmother’s experience, Kindred aims to ease loneliness, encourage genuine relationships and strengthen connections between generations and within local communities, while helping families feel more informed about their loved one’s visits.
