Kingmakers of Oakland is a brand dedicated to empowering and uplifting Black boys in Oakland, CA. Recognizing that the current education system is failing them, Kingmakers aims to create fundamental shifts through their six leading SYSTEM CHANGE DRIVERS: curriculum & pedagogy, Youth Voice & Leadership, Black teacher Retention, Community & family engagement, Narrative Change, and Policy. They believe that changing systems requires intergenerational collaboration between educators, students, family members, government officials, and community leaders.
