KITLV, also known as the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, is a world-class research institute dedicated to the study of Southeast Asia and the Caribbean. With a focus on Indonesia and the 'Dutch' Caribbean, KITLV engages in interdisciplinary research to explore the (dis)continuities between the pre-colonial and postcolonial periods.
