## Description

The Kompetenz- und Informationszentrum Wald und Holz (KIWUH) is a German information and research-support initiative focused on forests, forestry and the many uses of wood. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU), through the Forest Climate Fund, it supports research and shares knowledge about sustainable forest management, intelligent wood use, and the contribution of forests and wood to climate protection. Its website brings together specialist information, project funding opportunities and updates on funded research. Topics include biodiversity, digitalisation, climate change impacts, forest fires, carbon storage, forest management and timber construction. KIWUH also presents selected projects, expert interviews, research news, events and educational resources. Visitors can explore data and facts, thematic dossiers, press materials, graphics, brochures and a media library covering forests, wood and tree species. The centre provides information for forest owners, professionals, researchers and the wider public, helping audiences understand the role of forests as a foundation for life and the potential of wood as a renewable resource.
