Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) is an internationally recognized brand that is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the children in Kliptown, South Africa. With a population of forty-four thousand, Kliptown is a community that lacks even the most basic human needs, such as schools, health clinics, electricity, and proper sanitation. KYP believes that access to proper schooling is at the heart of these problems and aims to provide the children with the education they need to succeed. The program has been highly successful, with over 80% of KYP members passing their grade 12 exams, compared to the 1 in 3 residents of Kliptown who pass. KYP also supports its members financially by covering the cost of school fees and providing new uniforms at the start of each school year. In addition, the program offers a food program, ensuring that all members have access to two nutritious meals a day. KYP utilizes technology to enhance their tutoring program, providing online learning resources to boost skills and provide practice and instant feedback. For those members who wish to pursue higher education, KYP offers a tertiary education program, providing financial support to students who would not otherwise be able to attend university. They also have a vocational program to help members enter the job market, connecting them with internships and job opportunities. Their performing arts and culture and sports programs allow members to express themselves and have fun through activities such as dancing, drumming, and sports.
