Kipp Kobayashi is a renowned artist with a unique perspective on the interaction between human activity and our physical world. Through his work, he explores how our actions and experiences transform the structures and systems around us into living entities of collective thoughts. Drawing from his identity as an Asian American, Kobayashi aims to deconstruct preconceived notions of identity and cultural belonging, examining the fundamental elements that define us.

His impressive portfolio includes commissions from prestigious organizations such as the Getty Museum, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and the Bay Area Rapid Transit District. Kobayashi has also contributed to public art projects, collaborating with the Baltimore Red Line, Sound Transit, and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority. Based in Los Angeles, Kobayashi is an accomplished artist and educator.

He holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and an MFA from the University of Southern California. He has taught extensively at the Cal Poly School of Environmental Design and actively participates in the public art community.
