## Description

The National Association of Environmental and Nature Education Centres of Hungary, known as KOKOSZ, is an umbrella organization supporting environmental education and nature conservation across the country. Established in 1996, it grew from an education-centre network founded in 1983 and now brings together 92 centres and member groups. Its mission is to encourage sustainability education, strengthen environmental awareness, and promote responsible, nature-friendly ways of living.

KOKOSZ coordinates and represents its members while respecting their independence in setting goals and developing local programs. The network includes educational institutions and civil organizations that offer activities such as outdoor learning, forest school programs, and nature education for children and young people. The association supports this work through professional events, information sharing, and methodological training for educators. Its “Training the Trainers” program provides experiential-learning and teaching-method workshops for preschool and primary-school educators, including participants beyond its own network. KOKOSZ also contributes expertise to national sustainability and recovery-plan advisory and monitoring bodies, helping bring environmental and nature-conservation perspectives into public discussion and planning.
