Kootenay Co-op Radio (KCR) is a unique and vibrant brand that has been serving the communities of the West Kootenay region since 1999. As a member-owned and operated radio station, KCR truly reflects the spirit of the Kootenays. With over 100 dedicated volunteers working alongside a skilled part-time staff, KCR delivers over 80 hours of original programming each week. When you tune in to KCR, you'll immerse yourself in a world of diverse music shows, featuring everything from rock and classical to pop, world, bluegrass, jazz, and more. Our programmers play what they love, avoiding algorithms and embracing the eclectic tastes of our community. We also proudly support local artists, adding a unique touch to our programming. In addition to music, KCR offers insightful current affairs and culture programming. Our hosts cover a wide range of topics, including current affairs, science, books, sex, pop culture, and the environment, all from a Kootenay perspective. Driven by our mission to entertain and inform, Kootenay Co-op Radio is a platform that gives voice to under-represented volunteers, activists, artists, and stories, making it an inclusive and empowering force in the community.
