## Description

The Kőrösi Csoma Society is a Hungarian scholarly organization and forum for research into Asia and North Africa. Founded in 1920 by Count Pál Teleki and re-established in 1968 by Lajos Ligeti after a twenty-year interruption, the Society supports the study and discussion of Eastern cultures, histories, and languages. It holds public lectures monthly, bringing scholars and interested audiences together to explore specialist research. Topics featured on its website include Ottoman history, diplomacy, languages, and historical sources.

The Society publishes two periodicals: Keletkutatás, in Hungarian, and The Arabist: Budapest Studies in Arabic, in English. Keletkutatás is published twice a year, and earlier issues are available through the website. Visitors can also find information about the Society’s leadership, membership, meetings, publications, and recorded lectures, including videos about the organization and its history. Based in Budapest, the Kőrösi Csoma Society continues a long tradition of scholarly engagement with Asian and North African studies in Hungary.
