## Description

Korumburra & District Historical Society is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fostering interest in the history of Korumburra and surrounding communities in South Gippsland. Its work includes collecting and preserving historical material and sharing stories about local people, places and events across areas such as Poowong, Nyora, Loch, Jumbunna and Kongwak.

The Society offers research services, with fees, for people exploring local and family history. It also sells local history books and provides a self-guided historical tour, alongside information about landmark sites and historical plaques. Its blog features contributions from members and the community, including short stories, articles drawn from newspaper archives, pioneer histories and accounts of the Society’s own development.

People can support the organisation by becoming members, purchasing books, using its research services or making donations. The Society is based at the Korumburra Community Hub and is open on Tuesdays from 1 p.m., with visits also available by appointment.
