高山寺は、京都市右京区の栂尾に位置する歴史深い古刹であり、世界文化遺産に登録されています。建永元年（1206）に名を高山寺として再興されたこの寺院は、明恵上人により新たな息吹を吹き込まれました。高山寺は、日本最古の茶園があることで知られ、栄西禅師が持ち帰った茶の実を明恵上人が育てたことに始まります。また、「鳥獣人物戯画」といった国宝を擁し、重要文化財も多く有しています。
