## Description

The Kretinga Early Music Festival is an international cultural event in Kretinga, Lithuania, presenting music from the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Founded in 2017 by cornett and recorder performer Rodrigo Calveyra, the festival grew around the historic organ in Kretinga’s Franciscan Church, built around 1680 and regarded as the oldest in Lithuania. The church’s sacred architecture, distinctive acoustics and historical instruments provide a setting for performances shaped by historically informed practice.

The festival’s mission is to introduce Lithuanian audiences to leading early music ensembles and soloists from around the world, while making this musical heritage accessible to all. Every concert is free; visitors may support the festival through donations. Its programme includes summer concerts, a June opening event, educational performances and charitable concerts, with artists presenting works by composers and traditions from across Europe. The festival also offers an archive of past editions and information about its performers, venues and cultural mission.
