## Description

Kritrim Intelligence is a robotics research organisation developing spatial intelligence to help robots understand their surroundings and make decisions, including in places where GPS is unavailable. Its work spans four connected areas: visual and inertial simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM), path planning, deep-learning-based perception, and reinforcement and imitation learning. The aim is to build robots that can locate themselves, interpret their environment and choose safe actions.

The organisation’s featured project is Veg, a drone designed to map, plan routes and fly without GPS. Veg uses visual-inertial SLAM for localisation, plans routes across its map, and performs onboard detection and recognition of people and objects. Its safety system can detect a rotor fault and reroute the drone to a nearby safe landing zone. The research version runs on a Raspberry Pi 4 and Arduino Nano, with development of Veg 3.0 underway in simulation. Kritrim Intelligence also publishes technical articles and research explainers on robotics, algorithms and learning methods.
