## Description

Keski-Suomen Kirjailijat ry is a literary association founded in 1962 to sustain, support and develop literature and literary life in Central Finland. Based at the historic Writers’ House on Seminaarinkatu in Jyväskylä, the association brings writers and audiences together through a varied programme of literary and cross-disciplinary events. Activities include poetry and discussion evenings, clubs, writing courses and workshops, with events held at the Writers’ House and at venues such as libraries and Vakiopaine.

The association’s programme features events including Sähkö-klubi, Runousaamiainen, Salonki, Esseeklubi and H-huone. It also fosters collegial collaboration with local writers and associations. Through its Writers’ House residency programme, Keski-Suomen Kirjailijat maintains international connections and supports creative work. The association offers an assessment service, and regional writers can apply for membership by submitting an application and a CV outlining their publications and literary activity. Its work is guided by safer-space principles that promote respect, equality and an inclusive atmosphere at events and in the residency.
