Kultur & Art Initiative e.V. (KAI) is an intercultural and intergenerational non-profit organization that has been making a positive impact since its establishment in 2002. Composed of members from different nations and age groups, KAI brings together individuals with diverse professional backgrounds and extensive experience in youth, refugees, migration, non-formal education, and media production. At KAI, we strongly believe in the power of art and culture to create meaningful connections and foster social integration. That's why we develop and implement art-based and cultural projects, working alongside people of different ethnic origins to promote active cultural engagement rather than passive consumption. Our offerings include media educational workshops, international youth exchanges, and the highly acclaimed International Short Film Festival Detmold (ISFF) which we have been organizing since 2005. Through partnerships with various organizations and institutions, such as the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Music Academy of Detmold, we are able to provide extracurricular youth work opportunities, advice on media education, workshops, performances, and project support. Located at the culture factory Hangar 21 in Detmold and in Antalya, KAI also collaborates on EU projects and uses videos as effective tools for cooperation and exchange among organizations. Together with schools, we engage in culture and school projects, and we actively conduct creative initiatives and media workshops for refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants both nationally and internationally.
