The Kentucky Financial Empowerment Commission (KFEC) is dedicated to promoting financial empowerment for all residents of Kentucky. With a focus on six key groups, KFEC offers a range of initiatives and resources to help individuals make informed financial decisions at every stage of life. For aging Kentuckians, KFEC provides resources on scam and fraud awareness, budgeting, retirement planning, and financial security in later stages of life. Commonwealth employees have access to online and in-person financial wellness programs and resources to effectively manage their finances. KFEC supports K-12 teachers and students through a free online financial literacy platform called KFEC Money Academy, in-person programs in schools, scholarships, college savings plans, and teacher professional development. Individuals with disabilities receive tailored financial education and resources covering disability benefits, financial planning, accessible banking services, employment services, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Low-income families benefit from initiatives in budgeting, debt management, affordable banking options, and access to government assistance programs. Veterans and military personnel receive specialized financial education on topics such as VA benefits, military-specific financial challenges, and transitioning to civilian life. Additionally, KFEC offers key initiatives such as the Kentucky Financial Educators Network, an online financial education platform for high schoolers called KFEC Money Academy, and the Bank On Kentucky Coalition Network, which aims to expand bank accessibility and accounts for individuals and businesses across the state. By addressing the unique needs of each focus group and implementing these initiatives, KFEC plays a crucial role in enhancing financial literacy and overall financial well-being for all Kentuckians.
