## Description

京都市埋蔵文化財研究所（埋文研） is a public interest incorporated foundation established in November 1976. Their mission is to conduct surveys on buried cultural properties within the city that are at risk due to development activities, and promote the protection and research of archaeological sites to raise awareness among the citizens. The institute has been conducting investigations and research on various historical sites, including the ancient capital city of Heiankyo, which has been the center of Japanese civilization for over a thousand years since it was relocated to Kyoto in 794 until the Meiji era in 1868. Through this website, they aim to share a part of their research findings, allowing you to deepen your understanding of Kyoto's history and the history of Japan.
