## Description

Ky the Chemist is the professional and creative brand of Jakyra Simpson, a master chemist, award-winning science communicator, TEDx speaker, and cultural STEAM innovator. Through her work as Ky the Chemist and The Sneaker Chemist, Simpson makes science approachable by connecting chemistry with sneaker culture, design, fashion, and self-expression. Her educational approach uses sneakers as a lively entry point to explore topics such as materials science, engineering, innovation, and artistic creativity.

The brand’s central initiative, STEAM Sneakerheadz, offers experiential learning and hands-on activities that bring science and creativity together. Its programming aims to help students connect classroom concepts with their interests and lived experiences, while building curiosity, confidence, and a sense of possibility. Ky the Chemist emphasizes representation and encourages young people to see themselves as scientists, creators, innovators, and leaders today. In addition to educational work, Simpson shares her ideas through public speaking, including her TEDx talk on teaching culturally relevant chemistry with sneakers. Her mission is to inspire the next generation to create and shape their futures authentically.
