## Description

The American Friends of Lafayette (AFL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of Marquis de Lafayette, a pivotal figure in the American Revolution. As we commemorate the bicentennial of Lafayette's return to the U.S. in 2024-2025, the AFL will host educational programming and numerous events across major cities and small towns he visited. This year-long celebration kicks off in New York City on August 16, 2024, and culminates on September 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

The AFL aims to educate the public about Lafayette's contributions to American independence and the profound historical ties between the U.S. and France. Events will include parades, educational festivities, and remembrance activities, highlighting Lafayette's enduring values of liberty, equality, and human rights. Through these initiatives, the AFL fosters a greater understanding of this beloved figure, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire future generations. Join us as we revive the spirit of Lafayette and celebrate his lasting impact on American history.
