## Description

LAGOSTECH is a research project examining how information and communication technologies shape, and are shaped by, society in Lagos, Nigeria. Titled “Africa’s Silicon Landscapes: Negotiating Information and Communication Technology in Lagos,” the project explores the social and cultural factors behind the development of the city’s technology hubs and how those hubs influence everyday life. Using sociocultural anthropology, African studies, science and technology studies, and ethnographic methods, LAGOSTECH investigates how technology entrepreneurs, experts, users, and consumers imagine digital futures and respond to present-day change. Its research focuses on how people accept, adapt, or reject ICTs, and how these negotiations affect the growth or decline of tech communities. The project also aims to reassess common narratives about technology in Africa and foster stronger collaboration between global and sub-Saharan African stakeholders. LAGOSTECH shares its work through news, events, publications, a map of the Lagos tech ecosystem, and stories featuring people connected to the project.
