Louisiana Guardianship Services, Inc. (LGSI) is a private, not-for-profit corporation that acts as a guardian, or "curator" in Louisiana law, for adults who are incapacitated and unable to make their own decisions. With the authority given by the court, LGSI can make decisions on behalf of the incapacitated adult in various areas such as personal, financial, residential, and medical matters.

LGSI collaborates with the Louisiana Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs and the Louisiana Department of Health's Offices for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities and Adult & Aging Services to provide curators for disabled individuals who lack suitable family members or friends to manage their affairs. It's important to note that LGSI does not initiate interdiction proceedings; instead, they act as curator when the court determines that there is no appropriate alternative. The staff curators at LGSI are highly trained, tested, and registered with the national Center for Guardianship Certification.

In September 2022, Jason D. Asbill, JD, joined LGSI as the new Executive Director, bringing extensive legal experience and non-profit leadership to the organization. LGSI offers guardianships tailored to the needs of specific demographics.

For elderly individuals aged 60 and over, LGSI provides curators through contracts with the Louisiana Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs. Likewise, they offer guardianships for intellectually disabled individuals aged 18 and over who receive services from the Louisiana Department of Health's Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities and Office of Adult & Aging Services. Additionally, LGSI provides money management services in collaboration with Louisiana's Department of Health's Office of Adult & Aging Services (Adult Protective Services) for adults receiving Social Security and/or SSI benefits.

As a representative payee, LGSI ensures that beneficiaries' monthly housing expenses, utilities, and personal expenses are handled appropriately from a pooled client account. LGSI also assists with large expenditures and provides gift cards for household items, ensuring compliance with audits conducted by the Social Security Administration.
