## Description

The Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility (Suomen Lajitietokeskus) brings together information about species in Finland in a unified, open resource for research, education, public administration and the public. Through its Laji.fi portal, users can explore species and their distributions, search national species lists and taxonomies, and browse observation data from Finnish biodiversity databases. Nature enthusiasts can record their own observations, while users can also contribute to identifying records that remain uncertain. Data collected through iNaturalist Finland is shared with the facility, making observations available to researchers, authorities and other users.

The facility offers tools and services for different audiences, including observation data and geographic information, citizen science and species monitoring, interfaces for developers, and resources on invasive species and Finland’s Red List. Pinkka, its online learning environment, supports species identification through virtual specimen collections for students, schoolchildren and nature enthusiasts. The site also provides guides, support materials, a discussion forum and newsletters. Together, these services help people discover Finnish biodiversity, improve species knowledge and make biodiversity information more accessible and useful.
