## Description

Lancashire BMD is an integral part of the Local BMD Project, dedicated to preserving and providing access to vital historical records for Lancashire, England. The website carefully compiles indexes of over 11 million births, nearly 4.6 million marriages, and over 6.6 million deaths dating back to the inception of civil registration in 1837. Collaborating with various local Family History Societies, Lancashire BMD makes these essential records freely searchable online, offering genealogists and family historians a valuable tool to trace their ancestry. Users can access advanced search features and additional resources to help navigate the complexities of historical records. Though the index is a work in progress, the goal is to encompass all Lancashire's civil registrations, offering insights into the region's rich heritage. For those looking to obtain certificates, the system provides clear guidance on ordering processes, making family history research more accessible than ever. Lancashire BMD has been operational since August 2002, continuously updating and enhancing its services.
