# Calderstones and Brockhall:The People’s Story - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `lancslearningdisabilityinstitutions.org.uk` ## Description Lancashire Learning Disability Institutions is an oral history resource documenting life in long-stay NHS hospitals in Lancashire, North West England. It brings together first-hand accounts from people who lived or worked in these institutions, as well as family members, preserving personal memories and perspectives on institutional life. The collection includes stories, photographs, recordings and historical documents relating to hospitals such as Brockhall, Calderstones and the Royal Albert. The website offers several ways to explore this material. Visitors can browse the archive, discover themed collections, learn about the history of the institutions and find information about the project. It also provides opportunities to contact the project and contribute by getting involved or sharing material. Launched in summer 2017 as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project run by Pathways Associates, the resource continued after the project’s funding ended in April 2018.
