Land of Sky Regional Council is a multi-county, local government, planning, and development organization. They offer various services and programs to benefit the citizens of the region. In terms of Economic & Community Development, the council provides planning, economic, and community development services to local governments and communities.

They aim to fulfill the needs and desires of the region both now and in the future. The Volunteer Services Department connects adults aged 55 and older with organizations and individuals who require their help the most. This includes mentoring, companionship, and the contribution of job skills and expertise to community projects.

The Area Agency on Aging promotes the well-being of older adults and their families by partnering with organizations to provide a comprehensive system of opportunities, services, and protective supports. They also oversee Mountain Area Workforce Development, which identifies workforce development issues and addresses the needs of local businesses. Additionally, they manage Mountain Mobility, a public transportation system in Buncombe County.

Land of Sky Regional Council's mission is to provide regional solutions to relevant and emerging issues in the four counties they serve while delivering federal, state, and regional services to their member communities.
