## Description

The Larry Horton Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to honoring Larry Horton’s legacy by making higher education more accessible to students in Jackson County, Texas. Founded in 2018, the organization awards scholarships to deserving students pursuing college and career goals, helping open opportunities and ease the financial burden of further education. It has awarded 78 scholarships totaling $81,000 to students across Edna, Industrial, and Ganado school districts.

The foundation is inspired by Larry’s commitment to family, community service, and supporting young people. A coach, mentor, volunteer firefighter, and community presence, he believed in showing up for others. The foundation carries that spirit forward through its scholarship program and community fundraising.

Its annual fundraising weekend in Edna features a community cook-off, pulled pork sandwich plates, and a raffle, with proceeds going directly to scholarships. Supporters can also contribute through tax-deductible donations, sponsorships, and volunteering. The foundation welcomes community members who want to help Jackson County students pursue their educational ambitions and build brighter futures.
