## Description

Las Madrinas is a philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting pediatric care and research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), while honoring families with a strong record of service to Southern California. Established in 1933 as the first affiliate group created on behalf of CHLA, it has raised more than $60 million to advance children’s healthcare. Its contributions have funded eleven research endowments and a capital campaign, helping move scientific discoveries from the laboratory into clinical care.

A central part of Las Madrinas’ work is funding endowments that support healthcare, research, and education. Its current initiative is a $5 million endowment and chair in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at CHLA, intended to strengthen care and research for children with developmental and behavioral health conditions. The organization also recognizes philanthropic families through its annual Las Madrinas Ball, a tradition begun in 1939. More than 2,600 debutantes and their families have been honored, with donations made in their names supporting projects at the hospital.
