## Description

Launch School is an online school that prepares students for careers in software engineering through a structured, mastery-based curriculum. Founded by experienced software engineers, it takes a deliberate, fundamentals-first approach, helping learners build strong mental models and problem-solving skills rather than focusing only on particular frameworks or quick exposure to tools. Its learning model emphasizes proficiency, purposeful practice, and revisiting concepts to deepen understanding.

The school offers a Core Curriculum covering software engineering fundamentals, with courses and assessments designed to confirm mastery. Students who complete the Core may participate in the Capstone Program, which is intended to help them launch their careers. Launch School also provides free preparatory courses and learning materials, including an open bookshelf, as well as a community and resources on its pedagogy. The program is self-paced and aimed at learners committed to developing long-term engineering careers. Launch School reports an average starting salary of $115,766 for its 2024 Capstone graduates and says alumni have joined established companies and competitive startups.
