About

Description

Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) is a nationally recognized agency that empowers youth from diverse backgrounds to successfully transition into adulthood. Since its establishment in the late 1960s, LAYC has evolved from a grassroots recreation center into a comprehensive resource for low-income youth. Through their multicultural and innovative programs, LAYC addresses the social, academic, and career needs of over 4,000 youth and families each year.

Their services include academics, arts and recreation, job readiness, safe housing, and health and wellness. LAYC also advocates for policies and laws that create opportunities for youth and their families. Central to their approach is the Promotor Pathway®, a signature youth development model that combines mentoring, individualized support, and high-quality services to overcome barriers such as homelessness, substance abuse, and more.

LAYC serves low-income youth aged 11-24, including those in foster care, teen parents, homeless youth, and those facing mental health and substance abuse issues. With a focus on building strong relationships and eliminating obstacles, LAYC helps youth achieve their dreams and lead purposeful lives
