## Description

LBSuffrage100 is a Long Beach community initiative created to mark the centennial of women’s suffrage and recognize the continuing history of women’s struggle for voting rights. Organized by the Suffrage Circle of Women, a group of more than fifteen women, the initiative brings local history to life through public events, performances, educational programs, and creative projects. Its activities include an inaugural procession, a history presentation combining words and song, community open houses, and opportunities to make art honoring Long Beach suffragists. The group’s stated values emphasize the city’s diversity and the contributions and experiences of women of all races, ethnicities, and identities. LBSuffrage100 also shares information about suffrage history in California and invites residents to take part in the celebration. Supporters can contribute through themed donation options, including “Long Beach Votes” and “100 Women for 100 Years.” With a focus on learning, remembrance, and community participation, LBSuffrage100 connects the history of the vote with a broad, inclusive celebration in Long Beach.
