## Description

Lightning Bitcoin (LBTC) is a peer-to-peer electronic cash system and Internet-of-Value protocol designed for global payments. Built as an experiment based on Bitcoin, it aims to make transactions fast, secure, scalable, and nearly free. The network supports peer-to-peer transfers and exchange platforms, with payments described as confirming in seconds and fees potentially as low as 0.00001 LBTC.

LBTC uses a UTXO-based delegated proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, so users do not need mining rigs to participate. Coin holders can vote on blockchain improvement proposals and select 101 Lightning Nodes to validate transactions. Its on-chain governance is intended to involve network participants in decisions about the protocol and its delegates.

The project provides wallet software for Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS, including light and full-node options. Listed features include private-key support and on-chain governance functions in mobile wallets. The website also offers downloads, user and installation guides, a white paper, blockchain explorers, and community links. Its roadmap covers protocol enhancements, token functions, transaction privacy, and improvements to voting and wallet experiences.
